You can still see them in participant view, but if you’re trying to manage a classroom or larger meeting, swapping between participant and gallery view gets really annoying. For example, raised hands don’t sort to the top of a gallery. Managing a meeting is a chore on the app, too, as several functions just don’t run like they do on the app. There’s an annoying bug (feature?) where if you click gallery view or other apps during media share, the media mutes. Like all software, this option isn’t perfect. The Android apps pros make it feel more like the tool everyone else is using. Recent meetings are saved to your account, just like the desktop apps! Zoom chat and scheduling, features I’ve seen many users ask for on the PWA, are present here. If you want to mimic the terrible functionality of the web app, there’s an option to turn off incoming video!īattery usage wasn’t the worst, taking 15% battery in an hour-long meeting with 100 participants on Galaxy Chromebook Go.
There are more settings than the PWA, making it feel less like the afterthought Zoom’s web-based offering is. Video doesn’t turn off or stutter like the PWA and we get full playback. On that device, even a 95 participant meeting stayed smooth.
